To the one who feels like they’re easily replaceable,
To the one who feels like they’re easily replaceable,
Maybe you feel like you’re replaceable in your job, relationship, friendship, ministry, etc. In whatever area you feel this way I’m sure you think things like:
- “What if they find someone better/prettier/more talented/cooler/more qualified?”
- “What if I’m not enough?”
- “What if someone else takes my place and I miss out on what was meant for me?”
At any moment you feel like something or someone you care about could be taken away from you.
As you’re reading this I want you to begin to ask God where that lie (yes, it is a lie) began to take place. Although it may be painful to think about, a lie must be exposed in order to cover it with truth.
If someone replaces/rejects you, understand:
-It doesn’t mean that you’re not enough. It’s just not where you were meant to be at that moment and God has something so much better for you.
Think about it like a puzzle and you are a piece in that puzzle…it’s not that you were not good enough, it just means that it wasn’t the right fit, but there is a perfect spot. God has your perfect spot. Sometimes we (or others) try and cram a piece where it doesn’t fit but it wasn’t meant to go there. In simpler terms, sometimes we try to force our will and our plans when it’s actually not where God wants us to be.
If you’re not looking at the whole picture you may not understand why and where each piece goes. You’re positioned where you are for a reason. Isaiah 55:8-9 says: “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. ‘And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.”
Sometimes people will get up and leave the puzzle unfinished because they didn’t want to take the time to figure it out. You may not fit in their picture, and that’s okay.
You are, however, a permanent piece in God’s puzzle. Without you the picture is incomplete, He created you with purpose and for a reason. The definition of replace is to provide a substitute or equivalent in the place of. If you’re feeling like you may be replaceable, rest in this my friend, no other piece can fit in your spot. God has a specific plan and purpose for YOU and only you. God didn’t create you with a backup in mind and He didn’t create your plan with a plan B. Check out these verses that are written specifically about you:
- “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11
- “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you [and approved of you as My chosen instrument], And before you were born I consecrated you [to Myself as My own]; I have appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” – Jeremiah 1:5
- “You formed my innermost being, shaping my delicate inside and my intricate outside, and wove them all together in my mother’s womb. I thank you, God, for making me so mysteriously complex! Everything you do is marvelously breathtaking. It simply amazes me to think about it! How thoroughly you know me, Lord! You even formed every bone in my body when you created me in the secret place; carefully, skillfully you shaped me from nothing to something. You saw who you created me to be before I became me! Before I’d ever seen the light of day, the number of days you planned for me were already recorded in your book.” – Psalms 139:13-16
If you have been replaced or rejected I pray that we can learn from our great High Priest who is able to sympathize with us. Even Jesus was rejected but that didn’t stop Him from fulfilling His plan and purpose, He kept pressing on to what God had called Him to. Does that mean it doesn’t hurt? No, of course it hurts but we have to remember that Jesus is everything. He will heal you and give you everything you need to run the race He has set before you. Man may reject you, but God never will.
Nothing or no one can stop God’s plan for your life as long as you’re walking with Him and following Him.
- The Lord of Heaven’s Armies has spoken—who can change His plans? When His hand is raised, who can stop Him?” – Isaiah 14:27
- And the Lord said, “That’s right, and it means that I am watching, and I will certainly carry out all my plans.” – Jeremiah 1:12
- “For God’s gifts and his call can never be withdrawn.” – Romans 11:29
Friend, I pray that you’ve identified the root of this lie you’ve been believing and are ready to surrender it. Take these Scriptures and use them to speak truth over yourself. This likely won’t be an instant fix, however, I pray that your heart heals and your confidence in God and who He has made you to be grows and strengthens so that you can be everything He has called you to be. I’m going to leave you with some affirmations based on the verses that were mentioned here. I pray this blessed you!
